Forty Days and Forty Nights

Words: Taylor Burton-Edwards
Music: WAITING, Taylor Burton-Edwards, 2017 arr. Jackson W. Henry

Throughout Scripture, "forty days and forty nights" is a frequent theme in events that are significant for the people of God. Taylor Burton-Edwards has captured some of these stories within this hymn to connect the narratives of Noah, Moses, and Elijah to Jesus' time in the wilderness. Sing during the season of Lent or when the other narratives appear in the lectionary calendar. The refrain may also effectively serve as a short, cyclic song to sing throughout the forty days of Lent.
