애찬식과 세족식을 함께하는 예배 A Service with the Love Feast and Foot Washing

성목요일예배는 한국어와 영어를 사용하는 회중을 위한 한영예배 자료로 이용연 목사님이 쓰셨습니다. 이 예배는 한국어 회중과 영어 회중이 함께 예배드릴 때 사용할 수 있고, 각 회중이 따로 예배드릴 때도 사용할 수 있습니다.

이 예배는 친교실이나 예배당에 함께 둘러앉을 수 있는 식탁을 준비해 놓고 예배를 드릴 수 있다. 성찬식과 혼돈되지 않기 위해서 성찬용 빵과 포도 주스 대신에 식빵이나 물, 차나 과일주스 혹은 수프 등을 준비하고, 세족식을 위해서는 물 혹은 물병, 수건 혹은 종이 수건과 대야를 준비한다.

전주

예배를 시작하기 전에 예수님의 최후의 만찬을 묵상할 수 있는 성가나 찬송을 연주하거나 들려준다.

초청의 말씀

예수께서는 제자들의 외면과 배신이 다가옴에도 유월절 저녁 만찬을 준비하시고 겸손하게 종의 모습을 취하셨습니다. 하나님의 뜻에 따라 묵묵히 재판에 임하시고 고난을 친히 담당하신 예수를 바라보면서 예배에 참여합시다.

예배로의 부름

인도자: 그리스도께서 우리를 구원하였으니, 하나님의 구속의 사랑을 기억하십시오.
회중: 주님은 우리를 사랑의 식탁으로 부르십니다.
인도자: 은혜의 식탁으로 나오십시오.
회중: 우리는 생명의 빵을 먹고, 구원의 잔을 마십니다.
인도자: 제자들의 발을 씻어주시는 그리스도의 사랑을 깊이 체험하십시오.

기도

경이로우신 하나님, 우리는 오늘 밤 주님의 마지막 밤의 이야기를 기억하기 위해 모였습니다. 우리가 나누는 빵과 음료를 통해서 주님의 사랑을 함께 나누게 하소서. 예수께서 제자들의 발을 씻겨 주셨듯이 우리가 서로의 발을 씻겨주면서 서로를 섬기게 하소서. 우리가 십자가의 길로 나아가는 여정을 시작할 때 우리와 동행하여 주소서. 길과 진리와 생명이 되시는 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

영원하신 하나님, 우리를 주님의 사랑의 식탁에 참여하게 하시니 감사합니다. 애찬을 통해 우리의 영혼을 새롭게 하시고 육신의 평안과 은혜를 허락해 주심을 감사합니다. 애찬을 통해 우리가 거룩함을 유지하고, 항상 주님의 은혜를 기억하고, 우리 자신을 위해서가 아니라 우리의 주인이 되시며 구원자가 되시는 주님을 위해서 살게 하여 주소서. 생명의 주인 되시는 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 감사하며 기도합니다. 아멘.

세족식으로 초대

인도자: 사랑하는 하나님의 종들이여, 발을 씻어주시며 우리를 친밀한 관례로 부르시는 예수님을 만나러 나아갑시다.

자비로우신 주님, 제자들의 발을 씻겨 주시고 살과 피를 내어주심으로 우리의 죄를 용서해 주셨으니, 우리도 주님의 사랑을 본받아 서로의 발을 씻어 주어 그리스도의 섬김의 도를 실천하게 하소서. 우리의 손과 발이 주님의 손과 발이 되어 사람들의 아픔과 상처를 보듬어 주게 하시고 우리가 주님의 제자임을 알게 하소서.

It is customary not to use Communion elements, as this service does not include the Holy Communion. The bread may be a loaf of ordinary bread, crackers, rolls, or sweet bread baked for this service.

Prelude

Before the service, play hymns or music suitable for meditating on Jesus' Last Supper.

Word of Invitation

Jesus prepared a dinner table in the evening of the Passover and humbly took the form of a servant, even as the betrayal and denial of his disciples approached. Let us worship, looking to Jesus who silently participated in the trial and accepted the suffering according to God's will.

Call to Worship

Remember the saving love of God, as Christ saved us.
The Lord calls us to the table of love.
Come to the table of grace.
We eat the bread of life, drink the cup of salvation.
Deeply experience the love of Christ who washes his disciples' feet.
The love of the Lord leads us to the path of disciples.

Opening Prayer

God of wonder, we gather tonight to remember the story of Jesus' last night. Help us to share your love with one another through the bread and the cup we share. Guide us to learn to serve one another, just as Jesus washed his disciples' feet. Come with us as we begin our journey to the path of the cross. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life. Amen.

The following prayer by Charles Wesley was written especially for the love feast. Both John and Charles Wesley recommended using this prayer in all love feasts.

Father of earth and heaven, thy hungry children feed, Thy grace be to our spirits given, that true immortal bread. Grant us and all our race in Jesus Christ to prove the sweetness of thy pardoning grace, the manna of thy love. Amen.

Invitation to Agape Meal

Come to the table of grace.
Here we receive eternal food.
Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.

Here our souls are satisfied.

Sharing the Bread and Cup

A loaf of bread, crackers, or rolls may be passed. People may take time for conversation.

Thanksgiving Prayer

Eternal God, thank you for leading us to the table of your love. Thank you for renewing our souls and allowing us the peace and grace of the body through the agape meal (or love feast). Let us keep our holiness through this agape meal (or love feast), remember your grace all the time, and live not for ourselves only, but for the Lord, who is our Master and Savior. With gratefulness, we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, the Master of life. Amen.

Invitation to Foot Washing

Dear God's servants, let us come to Jesus, who washes our feet and calls us to learn from him.
We offer our hearts before the Lord's mercy and grace.
Take care of one another with love, following Jesus’ example.
His love heals us, gives us full joy, and frees us.

Foot Washing

Depending on the context, you can wash hands instead of feet. If you wash the hands of worshipers, you can do this before the agape meal (or the love feast).

Dismissal with Blessing and Benediction

Merciful Lord, by washing your disciples' feet and giving us your body and blood, you have forgiven our sins. Help us to practice your love by washing one another’s feet, following the example of your love. Let our hands and feet become your hands and feet so that we can heal the pain and wounds of the people and know that we are your disciples.
