Listen to the Rehab Podcast this Lenten Season

By Craig Kennet Miller

Rehab: A Podcast for Lent invites you to enter into series of conversations about living into a time of transformation. This podcast is based on the worship series Rehab and Rehab: A Group Study, created by staff at Discipleship Ministries of the United Methodist Church. During each podcast you will encounter a leading edge pastor and a Discipleship Ministries staff person as they wrestle with what it means to enter into a time of spiritual, emotional, and physical change. The five-part series is hosted by Craig Kennet Miller, author of Boomer Spirituality: Seven Values for the Second Half of Life and Director of Congregational Development.

In the first podcast on Wilderness, we will talk with Dawn Chesser, Director of Preaching at Discipleship Ministries and Duane Anders, Pastor of Cathedral of the Rockies in Boise, Idaho. We will discover that we enter rehab in different ways as we reflect on the account in Mark 1:9-15 of Jesus being sent into the wilderness.

Rehab is a journey into a very hard place. It is about taking up the cross and denying yourself. It is about following a leader or a program or a Savior into the hard place of suffering, rejection, and even death...Jesus promises that when we willingly give up our lives, do whatever it takes, even suffer and die, it is through this path that we will find eternal healing and life everlasting.br br Rehab A Group Study, p. 9 - 10.
