성탄전야예배: Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

성탄전야예배는 한국어와 영어를 사용하는 회중을 위한 한영예배 자료로 정화영 목사님이 쓰셨습니다. 이 예배는 한국어 회중과 영어 회중이 함께 예배드릴 때 사용할 수 있고, 각 회중이 따로 예배드릴 때도 사용할 수 있습니다.

초를 준비하여 회중이 입장할 때 하나씩 나눠준다. 하나님의 빛이신 예수 그리스도가 이 세상에 오는 것을 기념하며 예배의 마지막 부분에 함께 촛불을 밝힌다.

전주

예수의 탄생을 축하하는 이 예배의 전주로는 성탄절의 기쁨이 담긴 음악을 미리 준비해 둘 수 있다. 일반 예배의 전주와 달리 30분 정도의 음악을 준비하면 좋다. 악기 연주나 성가곡으로 함께 구성한 작은 연주회 형식도 좋다. 전주의 시작 시각을 미리 광고하여 회중이 이 시간에 오도록 초대한다. 성도들이 성탄전야예배 전에 음악과 함께 기도로 예배를 준비할 수 있게 도와준다.

성탄 감사 기도

은혜가 충만한 하나님, 예수의 탄생을 축하하는 이 기쁜 날에 우리를 이 예배에 함께 불러 주셔서 감사합니다. 지난 4주 동안 이날을 기다리며 우리는 소망, 평화, 기쁨, 사랑의 초를 밝혔습니다. 이제 오늘 세상의 빛으로 오는 그리스도의 초를 밝히며, 예수의 탄생으로 어두움이 있는 세상 구석구석에 생명의 빛이 비추어짐에 감사드립니다. 우리 마음속에 있는 어두운 구석에서 그 생명의 빛을 비추어 주소서. 우리가 예수의 빛을 받아 주님의 사랑과 정의에 더 가깝게 갈 수 있도록 우리 길을 밝혀 주소서. 또한 우리가 예수의 빛이 되어 우리가 가는 곳마다 예수의 사랑과 은혜를 전달하는 일꾼이 되도록 인도하소서. 오늘 우리가 새롭게 태어나게 하소서. 온 세상의 빛이신 우리 주 예수 그리스도 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

성탄절 촛불 점화

장소나 상황에 따라 예배자들이 원형을 만들고 촛불을 나눌 수 있다.

촛불 점화 시간에 예배당의 조명을 낮춘다.

목사는 그리스도의 촛불에서 불을 붙인 후 말한다:

“태초에 ‘말씀’이 계셨다. 그 ‘말씀’은 하나님과 함께 계셨다. 그 ‘말씀’은 하나님이셨다. 그는 태초에 하나님과 함께 계셨다. 모든 것이 그로 말미암아 창조되었으니, 그가 없이 창조된 것은 하나도 없다. 창조된 것은 그에게서 생명을 얻었으니, 그 생명은 사람의 빛이었다.” - 요한복음 1:1~4 (새번역)

오늘 밤 우리는 예수 그리스도가 세상의 빛임을 선포합니다! 그리스도의 빛이 어둠을 극복하고 이 세상에 왔습니다. 기쁨 안에서, 이제 우리는 그리스도의 빛을 나눕니다. 옆에 계신 분께 촛불을 전달하며 “성탄을 축하합니다”라고 하거나 혹은 성탄을 축복하는 말을 나눕시다.

촛불을 점화하는 동안 악기 연주나 반주를 할 수 있다.

이제 일어나서 “고요한 밤, 거룩한 밤”(109장)을 함께 부르겠습니다.

가능하면 목사는 성도들이 자리에서 일어나 원형을 만들며 서서 촛불 점화를 하도록 인도한다.

PRELUDE

Consider arranging several pieces of joyful Christmas music as the prelude for this important service celebrating the birth of Jesus. The Christmas Eve prelude may be longer, perhaps thirty minutes, compared to Sunday morning preludes. The music can be a combination of instrumental and vocal presentations. Announce the beginning time of the prelude in advance and invite people to come on time. The prelude can help people prepare their hearts in prayer for this meaningful service in Christianity through music.

CHRISTMAS PRAYER

O God, full of grace, we thank you for calling us together to this joyful worship celebrating the birth of Jesus. We’ve been waiting these past four weeks, lighting the candles of hope, peace, joy, and love. Today we rejoice that Christ is born! As we light the candle of Christ, celebrating the light of the world rhat has come, we are deeply grateful that the light of life has shined in all dark corners of the world. Shine your light into the dark corners of our hearts too. Brighten our path so that we may walk closer to your love and justice. Make us the messengers of Jesus’ light, so that wherever we go, we may share the love and grace of Christ. Help us be born anew today. We pray in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Amen.

After the Christmas prayer, the pastor invites all to join in the Lord’s Prayer.

During the offering, anthem or instrumental music expressing the joy of Christmas may be offered.

LIGHTING OF CHRISTMAS CANDLES

Arrange in advance to dim the sanctuary lights for the lighting of the Christmas candles.

Pastor lights a small candle from the Christ candle and says:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. - John 1:1-4 (NRSV)

Tonight, we celebrate that Jesus Christ is the light of the world! The light has come into our world, overcoming all our darkness. To celebrate this joy, let us now share the light of Christ. As you share the light with those near you, you may say “Merry Christmas” or extend a Christmas blessing.

During the lighting of the candles, soft music may be played by an accompanist or an instrumentalist.

Let us rise in body or spirit and share the light while we sing “Silent Night, Holy Night.”

If appropriate, the pastor may invite all to make a circle before lighting the candles.
