대강절 주일예배: Sundays in Advent

대강절 주일예배는 한국어와 영어를 사용하는 회중을 위한 한영예배 자료로 정화영 목사님이 쓰셨습니다. 이 예배는 한국어 회중과 영어 회중이 함께 예배드릴 때 사용할 수 있고, 각 회중이 따로 예배드릴 때도 사용할 수 있습니다.

대강절 주일예배 성경 봉독은 성서일과 B연도 (2023~2024년)를 따른다. 2023년 대강절은 12월 3일 주일에 시작한다. 대강절 4주 동안에 대강절 초(소망, 평화, 기쁨, 사랑의 초)를 순서대로 점화한다. 대강절 첫 번째 주일에는 성찬을 나누면 좋다.

대강절의 초는 3개의 보라색 혹은 청색, 1개의 분홍색, 그리고 그리스도를 상징하는 흰색 초로 구성된다. 점화 순서는 다음과 같다.

대강절 두 번째 주일: 보라색 혹은 청색 초

대강절 세 번째 주일: 분홍색 초

대강절 네 번째 주일: 보라색 혹은 청색 초

성탄전야 혹은 성탄절: 흰색 초

대강절의 촛불 점화는 세상에 빛으로 오신 예수의 탄생을 기다리며 준비하는 기독교인들의 신앙 표현이다. 목사는 점화할 사람이나 가정을 미리 선택하여 예배 중에 인도할 수 있도록 한다. 점화는 연령대가 다른 가정들이 함께해도 좋다.

대강절 기도

자비가 가득하신 하나님, 우리는 희망보다는 포기가 더 쉬운 시대에 살고 있음을 고백합니다. 미래를 포기하고, 꿈을 포기하고, 새날을 포기하는 것에 익숙해진 우리의 일상에 새로운 소망으로 오시는 주님, 감사합니다. 오랫동안 잠들어 있던 우리의 영혼을 깨우고, 무관심하게 세상을 바라보던 우리의 눈에 사랑의 빛을 주소서. 예수와 함께 사랑과 정의의 나라가 도래함을 망각하지 않게 하소서. 대강절 첫날인 오늘부터 주님의 탄생을 축하하는 성탄절까지 소망의 빛을 밝히며 하루하루를 기쁘게 살 수 있게 하소서. 우리를 통해 예수가 세상에 주는 새 생명이 모든 이들에게 큰 소망이 될 수 있도록 우리의 말과 행동을 인도하소서. 온 세상에 구원의 빛을 밝히는 주님 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

대강절 첫 주는 새로운 절기의 시작일 뿐 아니라 교회력으로는 새해의 시작이기도 하다. 그렇기에, 새해 첫 주일에 성찬을 나누는 것이 바람직하다. 그러나 교회에서 평소 매월 첫 주에 성찬을 해 왔으면, 그렇게 해도 된다. 성찬 예식은 연합감리교회 예배서의 대강절 성찬 예식을 따른다.

대강절 두 번째 주일

The scripture selections for these services are based on the Lectionary Year B (2023-2024). The season of Advent this year begins on December 3, 2023. During the four Sundays in Advent, the Advent candles (the candles of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love) are lit. On the first Sunday of Advent, Holy Communion may be celebrated.

The Advent candles comprise three purple or blue candles, one pink candle, and one white candle symbolizing Christ. The candles are lit in the following order:

The first Sunday in Advent: Purple or blue
The second Sunday in Advent: Purple or blue
The third Sunday in Advent: Pink
The fourth Sunday in Advent: Purple or blue
Christmas Eve or Day: White

The lighting of the Advent candles expresses the joy of light coming into our world through the birth of Jesus Christ. The pastor may arrange with different individuals and families to lead the lighting of the candles each Sunday. This can be done as multigenerational participation.

ADVENT PRAYER

Merciful God, we confess that we live in the world where it’s easier to give up than have hope. We admit we have become accustomed to giving up – giving up our future plans, dreams, and new days. Our hope is in you, O Lord. We have long been asleep in spirit; awaken our souls. We have been ignorant to the suffering of our neighbors; open our eyes with your vision of love. Help us never forget Jesus brings to us your kingdom of love and justice. From this first day of Advent until Christmas, may we keep the light of hope shining through the season of Advent. Guide our words and actions so that they may point to the good news of new life through Jesus Christ. We pray in the name of the Lord, who is the light of salvation for the whole world. Amen.

The first Sunday in Advent is not only the first Sunday of a new season but also the first Sunday of a new Christian year. Therefore, it is appropriate to celebrate the beginning of a new year with the sacrament of Holy Communion. However, if it is your local church’s tradition to celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month, you may offer Holy Communion accordingly. Use the “Great Thanksgiving for Advent” in the United Methodist Book of Worship.
