NASHVILLE, Tenn. Oct. 1, 2020 /Discipleship Ministries/ – A new online curriculum designed to help clergy and lay people develop understanding and confidence for leading congregations toward growth in generosity is now available from Discipleship Ministries.

This six-module leadership series will help clergy and leaders become better equipped to lead their local churches in the area of generosity as a key part of being a disciple of Jesus Christ.

“What if your church focused less on the church's need for money and more on inviting people to feel the joy of generosity?” said Ken Sloane, Director of Stewardship and Generosity at Discipleship Ministries. “I believe that talking about giving is something that should bring joy to leaders, rather than dread.”

The online course will begin on Monday, Oct. 19, but registration is open now. Per-person cost is $80 for the primary course or $125 for those who would like to earn 2.5 CEU credits. To register and for more information, click here.

The course will also be available for use by annual conferences and United Methodist Foundations as a curriculum for Clergy Cohorts with a mentor, either in-person or remote, utilizing video conferencing tools like Zoom. Those interested in the Cohort curriculum should email Sloane at [email protected].

The Generous Church Leadership Course is a collaborative work of Discipleship Ministries and three other general agencies of The United Methodist Church: the General Council on Finance and Administration, UM Communications, and General Board of Higher Education & Ministry.
