We Praise The Faithful Widow

We praise the faithful widow,
the coins she gave were small,
yet by this gift she witnessed
that God for her was all.
And Jesus said her offering
would warm the heart of God
more than the gifts of rich men
who wore a proud façade.

Can we in our own culture
have faith to realize
that our prized independence
is not where our strength lies?
We learn from this poor widow
in whom to place our trust,
and find joy in dependence
on God who blesses us.
