Glorious And Blessed God (Guidance)

The Rev. Gareth Hill, British Methodist pastor and hymn writer, has composed this text that closely parallels the words of John Wesley's Covenant Prayer. It would be especially appropriate for Watch Night or New Year's Day, or any occasion that observes the Covenant Service (see The United Methodist Book of Worship, page 288).

Ron Anderson, Professor of Worship and Music Ministry at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, suggests an alternate tune for the new Gareth Hill hymn for Covenant Renewal, Glorious and Blessed God. Anderson has slightly altered the tune, Guidance, a nineteenth century American hymn tune for this use.
