This hymn is especially appropriate for celebrating creation, nature, and environmental concerns, including climate change and global warming. The author writes, "I hope this hymn-prayer will encourage congregations to take better care for God's creation." It relates to scriptures readings in Genesis 1 and Psalm 8. This hymn was originally used for the dedication of the 180 solar panels on the sanctuary of Limestone Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, Delaware where hymnwriter Carolyn Winfrey Gillette is the co-pastor. The first line of the last verse's original wording reflected the solar dedication: "At this solar dedication, may we hear your word anew."
