21st Century Worship Resources for the Twelfth Sunday After Pentecost, Year C
(Based on Psalm 50:1-23)
The Lord calls to the heavens above and the earth below:
Gather to me all of the faithful ones, those who made covenant to be my people.
The heavens declare the glory of God and all of God's righteousness:
Do not forget the Lord and all of the Lord's goodness toward us
Come; let us bring thanksgiving, praise and honor to God
Come; let us receive the salvation of the Lord.
Come; let us worship God with a hymn of praise.
(Opening Hymn)
(Based on Hebrews 11:1-16)
Go forth from this place in peace.
Go forth knowing your faith is the assurance of things you hope for
and the conviction of that which you have yet to see with your eyes.
Go down from this mountaintop,
setting out like Abraham, not knowing where God is leading.
Leave this service, not yet having received all the promises of God,
but seeing them in the distance.
Press on in faith.
Step back into the "everydayness" of your life
desiring to see God in heaven,
not ashamed to be called God's people. Amen.
