SALUDOS Y LLAMADO A LA ADORACIÓN
Uno/Una: Nos reunimos para adorar juntos,
Todos: diferentes personas, diferentes vidas, diferentes historias,
Uno/Una: Sin embargo, todos criaturas del mismo Padre,
Todos: ¡Creado con amor por la Fuente de toda vida!
Uno/Una: nos reunimos para reconectarnos unos con otras,
Todos: diferentes personas, diferentes vidas, diferentes historias,
Uno/Una: Sin embargo, todos discípulos de un Maestro.
Todos: Jesús, el Verbo hecho carne, morando entre nosotros.

AFIRMACIÓN DE FE
El credo del inmigrante [1]
Creo en Dios Todopoderoso,
que guió al pueblo en el exilio y en el éxodo,
el Dios de José en Egipto y Daniel en Babilonia,
el Dios de extranjeros e inmigrantes.
Yo creo en Jesucristo, un galileo desplazado,
que nació lejos de su pueblo y su hogar,
que huyó de su país con sus padres
cuando su vida corría peligro,
y al regresar a su propio país
sufrió la opresión del tirano Poncio Pilato,
siervo de una potencia extranjera,
quien luego fue perseguido, golpeado
y finalmente torturado, acusado y
condenado a muerte injustamente.
Pero al tercer día, este Jesús despreciado
se levantó de entre los muertos,
no como extranjero sino para ofrecernos
la ciudadanía en el cielo.
Creo en el Espíritu Santo,
el eterno inmigrante del reino de Dios entre nosotros,
que habla todos los idiomas,
vive en todos los países,
y reúne todas las razas.
Creo que la iglesia es el hogar seguro
para el extranjero y, para todos los creyentes que lo constituyen,
que hablan el mismo idioma y tienen el mismo propósito.
Creo que la comunión de los santos comienza
cuando aceptamos la diversidad de los santos.
Creo en el perdón de los pecados, que nos hace a todos iguales,
y en la reconciliación, que nos identifica más que la raza,
el idioma o la nacionalidad.
Creo que en la resurrección
Dios nos unirá como un solo pueblo,
en el que todos son distintos
y todos son iguales al mismo tiempo.
Más allá de este mundo,
creo en la vida eterna en el que nadie será inmigrante,
pero todos serán ciudadanos del reino de Dios
eternamente. Amén.

Affirmation of Faith
THE IMMIGRANT’S CREED [1]
by Jose Luis Casal
I believe in Almighty God,
who guided the people in exile and in exodus,
the God of Joseph in Egypt and Daniel in Babylon,
the God of foreigners and immigrants.
I believe in Jesus Christ, a displaced Galilean,
who was born away from his people and his home,
who fled his country with his parents when his life was in danger,
and returning to his own country suffered the oppression
of the tyrant Pontius Pilate, the servant of a foreign power,
who then was persecuted, beaten, and finally tortured,
accused and condemned to death unjustly.
But on the third day, this scorned Jesus rose from the dead,
not as a foreigner but to offer us citizenship in heaven.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the eternal immigrant from God’s kingdom among us,
who speaks all languages, lives in all countries,
and reunites all races.
I believe that the church is the secure home
for the foreigner and for all believers who constitute it,
who speak the same language and have the same purpose.
I believe that the communion of the saints begins
when we accept the diversity of the saints.
I believe in the forgiveness of sin, which makes us all equal,
and in reconciliation, which identifies us more
than does race, language, or nationality.
I believe that in the resurrection
God will unite us as one people
in which all are distinct
and all are alike at the same time.
Beyond this world, I believe in life eternal
in which no one will be an immigrant
but all will be citizens of God’s kingdom,
which will never end. Amen.

The elements I will use for this celebration are different. I use a basket with baked bread of different colors, types, and shapes to reflect the diversity in the body of Christ.

Federico Apecena is originally from Argentina, where he developed his career as a Lawyer. He received his Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity. He and his wife were missionaries of Global Ministries in Uruguay and currently live in Newnan, Georgia, where Federico has planted a church.
