'Building the Beloved Community' August Session Focuses on Prison Ministries
By Bryan Tener

August’s session of the “Building the Beloved Community” webinar series will focus on engaging the community through the work that is taking place through Criminal Justice and Mercy Ministries (CJAMM) and the Exodus House in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The mission of Exodus House is to offer opportunities for ex-offenders to have a healthy, nurturing, and accountable environment where they may begin their lives again. Exodus Houses currently have a 1.7% recidivism rate over the past four years. CJAMM also works with children whose parents are incarcerated, providing opportunities for the children to attend summer camps and other activities.
CJAMM provides space for worship for those who are in prison, allowing them time to visit with family members, share in a meal, and grow in discipleship as they begin to think about transitioning back into the community.
Guests for the August session of “Building the Beloved Community” are Keith Dobbs, executive director of CJAMM; Robin Wertz, director of the Oklahoma City Exodus House; and Georgia Sparks, site director of the Tulsa Exodus House. These leaders have powerful stories to share along with wisdom and knowledge to offer local churches and leaders who desire to engage their community in ways that support and care for those who are transitioning out of prison.
This session takes place on Thursday, August 18 at 11 a.m., Central Time. I hope you’ll be able to join us. If you have any questions, please contact Bryan Tener at [email protected].
