Save the Estimate of Giving Cards Until After Christmas?
By Ken Sloane

The pastor in the church my wife and I attend is on a well-deserved renewal leave for September and November. As she prepared to begin her leave, she asked me what I thought about doing the annual campaign in January. I told her that many experts, such as my friend Joe Park (CEO of Horizons Stewardship), believe the beginning of the year may be a better time to do an annual campaign. I told my pastor, “This is a great opportunity to test that idea!”
Joe wrote a great post on Horizon’s blog about the positive aspects of making this change. He notes many positive reasons for doing the campaign in the first two months of the year. People have more information available about what their income may look like, and they are more focused, without all the distractions of getting ready for the holidays. Take a minute and click the link below to read Joe’s blog piece.
Let me know if you decide to give it a try and how it works for you, and I will share my church’s experience in this newsletter early next year.
