We remember Mary,
mother of God's son:
she, the willing vessel,
chosen, favored one.
She believed the promise
that God would provide
mercy for the needy,
justice long denied.We remember Mary
at the holy birth,
pon'dring news the angel
told for all on earth.
Could this new-born baby,
nursing at her breast,
be the promised savior,
God's love manifest?We remember Mary
through her history:
Jesus at the temple ...
his words, mystery,
at the wedding party ...
with him, yet ignored,
often disregarded
by one she adored. We remember Mary,
fruitful, faithful one ...
in her spirit's struggle
to obey her son.
She, a true disciple,
followed to the cross,
standing there beside him,
filled with grief and loss.We remember Mary,
sister who transcends
every class and culture,
and God's power extends.
Mary, model, mentor,
may we learn from you
how to live God's promise,
witness faith anew.
