Advent is a time for singing. We often debate whether we should sing Christmas hymns or only Advent ones. How about we sidestep that debate and sing Psalms instead? We don’t often turn to the psalms for worship texts during advent – or almost any time really. But this season the psalms can capture the experience of the season with surprising power and meaning. At the heart of the Advent season is a longing to find our place in the kingdom and kin-dom of God. So this season let the psalms help us sing the restoration song.
