2026 Prayer Partner Project

Prayer Partner Project Article

Prayer Partner Project Returns, October 20 to December 1

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:4-7, CEB)

We often talk about discipleship in terms of worship, study, or service. But what if one of the most transformative steps we can take is a spiritual practice that is available all the time? Prayer. Are you interested in growing in your prayer life?

What is the Prayer Partner Project?

The Prayer Partner Project is a spiritual practice that helps individuals and churches deepen their faith through intentional prayer partnerships. Rooted in trust, accountability, and love, this project strengthens the foundation of Christian discipleship.

If you participated in previous years, you do not need to sign up again. You are automatically registered unless you choose to unsubscribe. Participants from prior years may decide to continue with their existing prayer partner or find a new one.

Your next steps

  • Pick your prayer partner!
    • Register online to receive the prayer toolkit for you and your prayer partner.
  • Decide how often you and your partner will pray for each other.
  • Decide how often you and your partner will communicate. (Will you get together in person or by phone, email, or text?)
  • Join our Facebook group to receive resources and share your stories.
  • Sign up to receive daily devotions, such as The Upper Room Daily Devotion, Sight Psalms, or New Every Morning. (See below to sign up.)
  • Encourage others to join the Prayer Partner Project.

Timeline

This fall, following an initiative inviting everyone to read a chapter of scripture a day, we invite you to consider how you and your church might engage in this simple yet powerful practice of partnering for prayer. Individuals are invited to sign up independently and will be supported with a weekly email of encouragement and a supportive Facebook group. Prayer is more than a discipline; it’s a way of walking together with Christ. Consider inviting all groups within your ministry to join, from small groups to intergenerational ministry!

  •  Now until mid-October – sign up online.
  • On October 20, you will receive an email with the first message of encouragement in the Prayer Partner Project. If you are participating as a local church or a group (United Women in Faith, Bible study, and so forth), consider gathering people to support prayer partners as they decide how and how often they will communicate. After the project concludes, celebrate the six weeks of partnered prayer through acknowledging it in worship, creating a special gathering, or celebrating with testimonies.
  • The Prayer Partner Project officially concludes on December 1, shortly after Advent begins.

Testimonies from participants

  • “I cannot tell you in enough words just how much this project has meant to me. My prayer partner and I are like sisters, and I feel like this has drawn us closer, not just in prayer but in our Christian relationship as well. I look forward to seeing more programs like this in the future.”
  • “I was immensely blessed by [my prayer partner’s] prayers for me and my family. This reciprocal exchange of care and spiritual support epitomized the true essence of Christian fellowship. This project has not only fortified my personal faith but has also broadened my understanding of the global Christian community. I am eager to continue this path of prayer and look forward to participating in future projects of a similar nature.”
