As we move into 2026, one of the changes that will affect both clergy and local churches (especially financial leaders) is the shift to the Compass Pension Plan. This change was approved at the 2024 General Conference. It applies to churches and clergy in the U.S. and reflects the realities of what the denomination and annual conferences have been through in recent years. It also continues our United Methodist tradition of caring for the financial well-being of our clergy during their ministry and especially in their retirement years.
