Discipleship Coaching Continues into Year Two

In February 2025, we announced that Discipleship Ministries was introducing a Certificate in Discipleship Coaching, an initiative in collaboration with Excellence in Ministry Coaching (EMC3 Coaching). Since the launch of the first courses in March 2025, more than five hundred people have begun a journey to help congregations recapture a spirit of accountable discipleship and effectively develop intentional discipleship systems and pathways. After the unexpected and significant loss of Dr. Phil Maynard, the founder of EMC3 Coaching and our primary collaborator for Discipleship Coaching earlier this year, we are reducing course availability, with the intention of relaunching two tracks of Discipleship Coaching this fall. You can anticipate the following:

• In addition to the twelve-hour course on Discipleship Coaching, people who have completed that course will be eligible to register for a ten-hour course on Discipleship Pathway Coaching (DPC). The DPC is designed to enable the Discipleship Coach to build on skills developed in the initial course and to walk alongside a congregation as they develop an intentional plan to grow disciples in their community.
• We will extend our scholarship to offset the cost of the training courses and accommodate more participants. Thanks to a grant, the registration fee for either course is $75.
• We will announce when registration is open. In the meantime, you can learn more about Phase 1, Discipleship Coaching, here, and Phase 2, Discipleship Pathway Coaching Training, here.
