Brittany Sky Named Director of Children's and Intergenerational Ministries at Discipleship Ministries
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Discipleship Ministries is pleased to announce that Brittany Sky will join the agency as Director of Children's and Intergenerational Ministries, beginning August 3.
Sky brings nearly two decades of experience in local church, publishing, retreat, and nonprofit ministry leadership, along with a lifelong passion for helping people of all ages discover that they are loved by God and belong in Christian community.
Sky earned a bachelor’s degree in religious education from Oklahoma City University as a Bishop's Scholar. She later earned a master of arts in Christian education from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and an MBA from Tennessee State University.
Throughout her ministry journey, Sky has served churches, publishing ministries, and faith formation organizations in roles focused on children, families, discipleship, leadership development, and spiritual formation. Her ministry experience includes serving as Director of Children's Ministry at Choctaw United Methodist Church, Director of Younger Children's Ministry at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, and leadership roles with The United Methodist Publishing House, where she served as both development editor and senior editor for children's resources used by churches around the world, as well as a wide range of ministry initiatives such as GenOn Ministries, Threads Within, and the Changemaker Initiative.
She is also the author of Celebrate Wonder Bible Storybook and Raising Good People, a resource developed through extensive research with ministry leaders, parents, and congregations about the support families need from the church.
Most recently, Sky has served as Director of Emmaus Ministries, supporting adults seeking spiritual renewal, friendship, and deeper discipleship through The Upper Room's global Emmaus movement.
Sky notes that throughout her entire career,
"My calling was simple: to love all of God's children. As I've gotten older, I've come to believe we're all still God's children. Even the grown-ups. We're just walking around in bigger bodies.”
In her new role, Sky will support churches, ministry leaders, and families as they cultivate discipleship among children and strengthen faith formation across generations. She is particularly passionate about intergenerational ministry and creating communities where faith is nurtured through relationships across generations, with a strong commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and belonging, especially for neurodivergent and disabled children and families.

Outside of ministry, Sky enjoys reading, podcasts, wildflower gardening, coffee, storytelling, and spending time with her son, Rowan.
She lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with her dog, Chase, and two rabbits, Carl and Ellie.
