Seventh Sunday after Pentecost

Mark tells two stories in one—a “present-time” story and a “flashback.” The “present-time” story recounts Herod hearing about Jesus and deciding he must be John the Baptist raised from the dead. The "flashback" is the story of the Herod's order to have John the Baptist beheaded. (Mark 6:14-29)
