When She Heard Jesus Was To Come

Recommended Tune: Caithness CM, The Psalms of David in Prose and Meter (1635)
Harmonized in The English Hymnal (1906)

When she heard Jesus was to come,
she yearned to be made well.
For years she had this flow of blood
the doctors could not quell.

The crowds pressed on ignoring her;
they did not want to yield.
Still she reached out and touched his robe,
and suddenly was healed!

When Jesus said: "Who touched my clothes?"
her joy made her more bold.
She spoke the truth of her relief
in words which overflowed.

God, help us sense another's hurt
and listen with our heart.
May we be present in their need
that we your love impart.
