When Mary Hears The Angel's News

Based on Luke 1:26-45

When Mary hears the angel's news
that she will mother God's own son,
she prays, bewildered and confused.
How can she be the favored one?

"The Spirit will bring you the power
to birth the Hope of Every Race.
You will be shielded every hour.
You will be held in God's embrace."

Then Mary goes to Judah's land;
the angel's news she needs to share.
Elizabeth will understand,
will give her strength, help her prepare.

Elizabeth hears Mary's voice,
and feels the child within her stir.
In God both women then rejoice.
The promised hope is now made sure!

God, grant us faith that we may know
you long to do great things through us.
Through us today let your love flow.
May we, like Mary, dare to trust.
