We Thank God for Another Day

Call to Worship

One: God has given us a new year and a new day. One more day in the land of the living!

Many: We thank God for another day, another year.

One: Yesterday, last year, gone, like dust in the wind. Today is a new beginning.

Many: We thank God for another chance.

One: God lets the past be the past. Today, and every day, we get a fresh, new page to write our testimony on.

Many: We thank God for another blessing.

One: We repent. God forgives. That's all there is to it. God's love is so awesome!

Many: We thank God for being better to us than we've been to ourselves.

One: God's blessings are continually poured from the windows of heaven upon us -- so many that we cannot count them.

Many: We're gonna live every day of this new year like we know that we're blessed, 'cause we are!

Opening Prayer
Loving God, you have spared us to see the beginning of another year. We thank you for bringing us through the storms of last year. We thank you for the hope you offer us as we face the days ahead. We trust in your love and mercy to carry us through. Whether we are able to stand among your children this time next year is totally in your hands. Your love and mercy will always sustain our lives. Today, we give you thanks and praise as we remember the past and face the future. Give us new eyes to see and new hearts to listen and obey. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Offertory Prayer
Loving God, today we renew our promise to love you and serve you as we ought. As we begin a new year walking with you, we humbly lay before your altar all that we have and all that we are. We ask your blessing on us and on our tithes and offerings, that this year we may become true disciples of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
