We Once Acclaimed Your Name As "Love"

Andrew Pratt, British Methodist pastor and hymn writer, offers this hymn written in response to the 7.6 magnitude earthquake in Pakistan on October 8, 2005. The death toll four days after the earthquake reached more than 35,000, with 200,000 left homeless. The text is a prayer for those who have suffered, not only as a result of this earthquake, but also as a result of other recent natural disasters of earth, wind, and water. The tune is the familiar Martyrdom.
