The Reason for Living

Words: R. Frederick Crider, 2015

Music: Jane Best, 2015

This hymn by United Methodist pastor and hymn writer R. Frederick Crider is based on Acts 3:6. It highlights and celebrates the important things in life that give life meaning. The tune is by Jane Best, a worship leader in the Island Community Church in Gore Bay, Ontario, Canada, in the far north. She also directs the Manitoulin Community Choir and is a music teacher. She has had a volume of hymns published by Wayne Leupold Editions. Her collaboration with the Rev. Crider came about from their meeting at a Hymn Society conference at which Crider was presenting his own volume of hymns, also published by Leupold.
