The Call of Jesus

Words: R. Frederick Crider, Jr., 2011
Music: DOVE OF PEACE, The Southern Harmony, 1835; harmony by Charles H. Webb, 1987

The stories of Jesus calling his disciples by the Sea of Galilee are some of the most relatable to our current context because Jesus still calls us. The Rev. Dr. Fred Crider has created this hymn as a way for the call to be heard even today. It has been paired with the tune DOVE OF PEACE, and the hymn text and tune, both in style and harmonic setting, are akin to another hymn and tune found in The Faith We Sing, "The Summons," #2130 (KELVINGROVE). These two hymns would work very well with one another when paired to proclaim the story of Jesus' call in worship.
