Response to God's Grace — Offertory Prayer

As Pastor of the Belfast United Methodist Church in Belfast, ME, Rev. Jinwoo Chun was looking for a way to remind his congregation that their giving in worship was an offering to God, so much more than a way for the church to pay it's bills. He wrote the following response which his congregation uses each Sunday at the time for receiving the offering.

Pastor:
God wants our love
more than God wants our offerings;
God cares about our hearts
not the amounts of our offerings. (Hosea 6:6).

All:
As we count all the blessings God has already given to us,
we cheerfully give our offerings to God, the Provider,
with grateful hearts. Amen! (2 Corinthians 9:7).

[I often invite the congregation to count God's blessings during this time.]
