O God, Your Creatures Fill The Earth

This new hymn by Carolyn Winfrey Gillette was written as a gift to the Humane Society in celebration of that organization's now promoting an annual blessing of the animals on the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, October 4. The United Methodist Book of Worship contains a Service for the Blessing of Animals, no. 608. The Humane Society quotes extensively on its website from the official positions and teachings of The UMC on animals. This hymn is a welcome addition to others suitable for a blessing of the animals service or other service celebrating God's creation and the creatures that inhabit it.
