O God, You Love the Needy

Words: Carolyn Winfrey Gillette
Music: tune LLANGLOFFAN

This hymn by Carolyn Winfrey Gillette reminds us that God loves the poor and needy, including those now suffering from disastrous drought and famine, especially in East Africa, and that our task is to care for them in Christ's name "'til mourning turns to singing and famine is no more." The text is also closely related to the lectionary readings for August 28, 2011: Exodus 3, Romans 12 and Matthew 16.
