O God, We've Prayed in Wind and Rain
Words: Carolyn Winfrey Gillette, 2017
Music: ST. ANNE, attr. William Croft, 1708 (1678-1727); harm. W.H. Monk, 1861
Carolyn Winfrey Gillette composed this hymn in response to Hurricane Harvey, which devastated portions of Texas and Louisiana along the Gulf of Mexico. Whenever storms rage, God's people sing - to offer praise and thanksgiving, lament, and prayer for the work to be done. May this hymn give voice to the pain and struggle of those recovering from natural disasters, but also hope in knowing that God is at work in the midst of difficult seasons.
