It is the season for summer church conferences, and this hymn is especially appropriate in that setting. The author writes, "We hope the new hymn will remind people of the value of church conferences and camps. The denominational study coordinated by Louisville Seminary years ago talked about the 'ecology of the church.' These summer events are important ways of nurturing the faith. We hope people will continue to see them as a priority even in lean economic times."
