Recommended Tune: Shepherd'S Pipes CMD by Annabelle McClelland Gay (1952)
Mysterious Mary Magdalene
healed by her Lord, made whole,
inspires us still as we recall
how Jesus fed her soul.
Freed of the evil spirit's power,
impelled by gratefulness,
she witnessed well to all she met
how their lives could be blessed . . .
She agonized to see him die
amid the gathering gloom,
but on that Sabbath day at dawn
she found the empty tomb!
The Master answered her surprise,
told her to tell abroad
that he now risen would ascend
to their Creator, God.
We follow Mary's history
and learn how she became
a leader in the early church.
Her zeal set hearts aflame.
She showed how women's ministry
could claim its rightful place,
although some male disciples feared
that they would lose their space.
May we as followers today
have faith enough to dare
to come to Christ for healing love,
and in his mission share.
Remembering Mary Magdalene,
God, help us ever strive
like her to share our confidence
that Jesus is alive!
