Mingled Tears Of Memory (Hinsdale)

British Methodist pastor Andrew Pratt has composed this haunting text that looks for God in the midst of tragedy and suffering. The hymn has been set to the tune, Hinsdale by American composer John R. Kleinheksel, Sr, of Holland, Michigan. It was composed following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina around New Orleans, Louisiana, as well as the reports of people being trampled to death as they tried to get away from a rumored suicide bomber in Baghdad.

The author writes that the hymn was composed "on a day . . . one year after the ending of the Beslan school siege . . . that provided continuing news of hurricane Katrina, which had caused devastation around New Orleans, alongside the fact that people had been trampled to death as they tried to get away from a rumoured suicide bomber on a bridge in Baghdad."
