Here Is Peace

Ideal for use on Peace with Justice Sunday

British Methodist pastor and hymn writer Andrew Pratt has written this text for Peace with Justice Sunday. It has been set by Dean McIntyre to a traditional Latvian tune that appears in a minor key in The Faith We Sing (no. 2217). The original minor mode tune, Kas Dziedaja, is mournful and melancholy, and accompanies the original words "By the Babylonian rivers we sat down in grief and wept." But transposed to a major key and given some contemporary harmonies, it is transformed into a setting that is suitable for this positive, optimistic text.
