New Church Starts (Path 1) is a team of leaders drawn from national, regional, and local levels of The United Methodist Church, whose mission is to provide collaborative leadership to evangelize the USA. We want to reach more people for Christ by creating new places for new people.

In partnership with annual conferences, Discipleship Ministries has exceeded its goal to train 1000 church leaders to start 650 new churches in the United States from 2008 through 2012.

More than 1,000 potential planters have been equipped through a multitude of local, national, and regional training events

The United Methodist Church has planted 680 churches in the United States since January 2008, which represents a 409% growth over 2004-2007, when the denomination planted 278 churches.
