The Director, Music Ministries – To fulfill the mission of Discipleship Ministries by directing the work of the office of music ministries through providing resources, training, research and networks for resourcing leaders (clergy and lay) engaged in equipping disciples through vital congregations.
The successful candidate must have a profound sense of the importance of developing and interpreting musical resources for vital worship in the making of Christian disciples; demonstrates advanced professional and academic knowledge and recognizes experience with diverse musical traditions and practices related to worship ability to perceive and describe music as ministry; ability to understand the interdependence of all elements of worship, including preaching, liturgy, music and other arts; capacity to reflect theologically about worship as central to the primary task of the local congregation; ability to work in a team environment; knowledge of The United Methodist Church structure and polity; strong communication skills; and computer and electronic media skills.
Education / Specialized Knowledge / Experience
Master’s Degree in Music, Performance, Music History, Church History, Christian Worship. Specialized knowledge of church music, hymnody, composition/arranging, music theory, worship, liturgy, and congregational singing/ Six to seven years of experience in the work of music ministries and worship, or equivalency.
