Betrayed

A choir anthem (SSAATTB) for Maundy Thursday or Last Supper re-enactment based on Matthew 26:18-30

Worshipers should feel the mystery and tension of the evening that is unfolding through the conflicting harmonies. The music echoes the confusion of the disciples as their Lord speaks words they do not understand. The music bears many combinations of "3," which is a significant number throughout the Lenten season. Finally, it reflects the compassion of Christ as he presents the elements of Communion to the disciples, knowing that the act of betrayal is at hand and would set in motion his journey to the cross for the salvation of our sins.
