Words and Music: L. Edward Phillips
Topics: fathers, Father's Day, Joseph
Dr. L. Edward Phillips is an ordained elder in the Memphis Annual Conference, Associate Professor of Worship and Liturgical Theology, and Coordinator of the Initiative in Religious Practices and Practical Theology at the Candler School of Theology, Emory University, in Atlanta. He composed this anthem for Father's Day at the request of the choir director at his wife's church, where the choir was small and the resources for Father's Day few. Parts are mostly unison with some division to three part and a two-part canonic treatment at the close. Dr. Phillips is glad to have the anthem sung in churches and requests churches who use it to let him know how it goes. He may be contacted by email at [email protected].
