Jesus is a Rock: A Call to Worship

One: Jesus is a rock in a weary land.

Many: The world has rejected him, but we love him.

One: Jesus is the cornerstone of our faith.

Many: He is the head and the heart of our lives.

One: Whatever happens to us in the world, we can find refuge in the Rock that is our salvation.

Many: Thanks be to God for the steadfast Rock that never fails.

Pastoral Prayer

Loving God, we thank you for this new day and another opportunity to meet Jesus and our neighbors in this sacred space. We confess that the joy, the gladness we experienced just one week ago has already seeped out through the cracks of our lives. We have allowed the cares of this world to overshadow the joy of being in love with you. Forgive us, we pray. Enable us to hold onto the grace, mercy and power of your Holy Spirit present with us today as we travel through the upcoming week. In the name of your Son, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

Offertory Prayer

Once again we present our tithes and offerings to you, O God. We ask your blessing on the givers and the gifts. Use us; use our tithes and offerings in any way that pleases you. You always have enough and more to provide for our needs. Help us to be as generous to you as you have been to us. In the name of the greatest offering, our Lord, Jesus. Amen.
