"There's a Spirit of Love in This Place," Worship & Song,. 3148, verse 2

Table

Bread-baking,
kitchen dwelling,
All-feeding God,
hungry and thirsty
we would return to your lap,
we would come to your table.

All the fitness God requires
is to know your need of God and neighbor.

We need you, God.
We need your healing grace.

LOW VOICES:
We have wounded ourselves,
one another, and the world you have made.

HIGH VOICES:
We have let our love grow cold
through want of practice,
want of patience,
and want of courage.

We need you, God.
We need your healing grace.

Silence

God knows our need and supplies it.
In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we are all forgiven.

We need one another. Share signs of love and peace.

The peace is exchanged.

Presider raises hands to orans.

We come to your lap
and to your table
and rediscover your longing
for the world.

Feed us
'til we want no more.

Feed us, that we may join the praise
of angels and martyrs,
of prophets and cherubim,
of the faithful and all your grace surprises:

Holy, holy, holy, Leavener of all with grace and power,
your creatures of every place and time sing your praise.
Yours is true salvation!
Blessed is Jesus who comes in your name,
and the Spirit who is your Love.
Yours is true salvation!

Instruct us,
here in the halls
of your kitchen-kingdom,
with the recipes of mercy and forgiveness
of compassion and redemption.

As you nourish us
with the bread of life
and the milk of your Word,
let your Spirit hang an apron
around our necks,
fashioned and patterned
like that worn by our
Lord-become-friend, Jesus.

Presider takes bread.
He took bread, blessed you,
shared it and said,
This is my body, given for you.
Do this remembering me.

Presider takes cup.
He took wine, gave you thanks,
shared it and said:
This is my blood of the new covenant for you.
Drink this remembering me.

Presider places bread and cup on the table.
And so we remember you,
we give you thanks,
we praise you with lips and lives:

For the Manna that was,
the Bread that is,
and the Feast that is to come.

Presider raises hands to orans.
Now leaven our lives and this feast
'til we rise in praise,
offered, blessed and broken
for the healing of the nations.

Presider gestures in blessing toward the people.

Fill us again
with the bread that satisfies,
with wine that cheers,
with milk that nourishes.
Drench parched throats.
Feed us
‘til we want no more.

Feed us,
'til we want no more.

Amen.

"There's a Spirit of Love, " Verse 3

There's a space for grace in our hearts.
There's a space for grace in our hearts.
It's in learning to forgive that our spirits truly live.

There's a spirit of love,
there's a presence of peace,
there's a space for grace in our hearts.
