Worship Matters: Episode 56 - Worship and Youth

By Cynthia Wilson

Chris Wilterdink, Director of Young People’s Ministries of Discipleship Ministries, joins the Worship Team for a wide-ranging conversation about youth and worship. Chris advocates for intergenerational worship that draws from the giftedness of all and finds worship leaders from young people to work alongside other generations in enlivening the worship experience. We also discuss the National Youth Event—Youth 2023 and the early stages of planning, inviting the whole church to be in prayer for this post-pandemic, large-scale event happening in Daytona Beach in the summer of 2023. Plus Chris shares his excitement about new materials to help those thrust into youth leadership in a series of courses called Crash Courses in Youth Ministry.

“Worship Matters” is a podcast from the worship team of Discipleship Ministries, designed to deal with the intricacies of planning worship each week. Hosted by Dr. Cynthia Wilson, Executive Director of Worship Ministries and the Director of Liturgical Ministries; Dr. Diana Sanchez-Bushong, Director of Music Ministries; and Dr. Derek Weber, Director of Preaching Ministries, this podcast explores how to plan worship using the common lectionary while creating worship experiences and series that are engaging, relevant, and adaptable for any church setting.
