We All Agree on UMCOR

By Ken Sloane

United Methodist do not agree on everything, but when it comes to our denominational response to natural disasters, we all get behind the work of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).

One of our greatest sources of pride comes from the knowledge that when we give in response to a disaster—like the recent earthquake in Puerto Rico—one hundred percent of what we give goes to communities in need. That happens because all of expense of operating UMCOR comes from the UMCOR Sunday offering (formerly the One Great Hour of Sharing) on the fourth Sunday in Lent.
