Strengthening Ministry with Older Adults: A Survey from ENCORE Ministry Foundation & Discipleship Ministries
By Scott Hughes

Older adults are living longer, serving deeper, and shaping our congregations in powerful ways. Yet we know that ministry with older adults varies greatly from church to church.
That’s why ENCORE Ministry Foundation, in partnership with Discipleship Ministries, is launching a survey to learn more about what’s happening in your context.

Why This Matters
More than 58 million people in the U.S. are 65 or older—and the church is in a unique position to support, equip, and be transformed by this growing population. The insights you provide will help us understand the current landscape of older adult ministries and discern where the Spirit may be leading us next.
What We’re Asking
This survey takes just 5–7 minutes and will ask about:
- How your church engages older adults
- Volunteerism, caregiving, and support needs
- Dreams and challenges you see in this ministry
Your response helps shape tools and resources that better serve local churches like yours.
What Happens Next
We’re compiling responses now and will share the results in a webinar this fall. You’ll hear trends, success stories, and practical takeaways for your own ministry.
