People Story initiative celebrates disciple-making

By Doug Ruffle

Stock people of various ages standing in circle

Over the last decade, The United Methodist Church has started over a thousand new faith communities in U.S. They represent a combined worship attendance of almost 100,000 people. These people are not numeric numbers, they’re real people and each of them has a real story to share.

The goal of the People Story initiative of Path1 at Discipleship Ministries is to help congregational leaders to move away from thinking about fixing churches and to refocus everybody’s attention on the vibrant new communities of faith being started and the individuals and communities being transformed by those new ministries. It's a celebration of disciple-making at the grassroots level.
