Is your team ready to unleash a distinctly Wesleyan movement of Fresh Expressions in the world? Central to every new expression of church is how we share the Jesus story in community with others. How do we go about this in a post-Christian reality in diverse contexts?

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from Rev. Robert G. Johnson, who has served as pastor for more than twenty-five years in a variety of ministry contexts, including inner-city, suburban, rural, college towns, college campus ministry, cross-cultural, cross-racial, a church startup, assisted-living facilities, large churches, and a megachurch. Sharing the Jesus story in such a wide variety of mission fields has given him a sharp, clear, and transcendent grasp of the Jesus who reigns above personal agendas, partisan politics, and public opinion. Telling the world about this Jesus has become a core pillar of his life-mission.

Robert was born and raised in Columbia, Mississippi. He lived in Houston, Texas, for twenty-seven years before taking an appointment in 2016 to serve as the lead pastor of Saint Mark United Methodist Church of Wichita, Kansas, a flagship United Methodist congregation.

Additionally, Robert serves on the boards of Kansas Interfaith Action, a public policy advocacy organization; Humankind Ministries, a nonprofit focused on housing for those experiencing homelessness; and the Boys and Girls Club of Wichita. He also serves on the advisory board of the College of Health Professions of Wichita State University. He is a cofounder of Nehemiah Village, Inc., a faith-based housing development for formerly incarcerated men.

Robert has a B.S. in psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi, and an M.Div. from Perkins School of Theology/Southern Methodist University. He is married to Linda Johnson, a senior financial manager. He and Linda have two daughters: Giselle, 26, and Kayla 22. Giselle, a Howard University graduate, is a creative executive with Sony Entertainment. Kayla is a soon-to-be education-major graduate of Spelman College.
