Frequently Asked Questions about Mission Pilgrimage to Korea

By David Kim

1. Is the Mission Pilgrimage to Korea a tour or a mission trip?

No, the Mission Pilgrimage to Korea is not a tour or a mission trip. We will be travelling to and around South Korea as pilgrims. We seek spiritual richness and renewal through travel and experiencing places where American missionaries planted seeds, places where Christianity influenced the Korean society, as well as the places missions continue.

2. How much should I budget for expenses during the pilgrimage?

Airline tickets will cost $1,000 - $1,500. There is no designated travel agency that we use. Participants are responsible for booking their own flights. You will also be responsible for travel insurance and personal expenses.

Lodging will be provided by Bupyeong Methodist Church. We will be staying at the church mission center guest house that has double beds in a room (two people share one room). If you plan to arrive earlier than the pilgrimage start date, then we recommend you to stay in a hotel close to Incheon airport. It will cost $100-150 per night.

Transportation will be provided by Bupyeong Methodist Church. The church bus will provide transportation from the airport to the church on the pilgrimage start date and to the visiting sites during the pilgrimage as well as to the airport on the last day.

Meals during the pilgrimage will be provided by Bupyeong Methodist Church. You will be responsible for the meals before and after the pilgrimage.

When you arrive in Incheon International Airport (ICN), the Bupyeong church bus will provide transportation to the church at 6:30 p.m. on the event date. If you miss the bus, take an Incheon taxi to the church, 34, Buyeong-ro, Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, Korea. It will take about 50 minutes and cost $40-50. On the last day of the event, the church bus will take you to the airport after breakfast at 9 am.

We begin each day by joining in the early prayer meeting of Bupyeong Methodist Church at 5 a.m. Then we will take a rest until breakfast at 8 a.m. The pilgrimage journey will start at 9 a.m.
