National Network of Young Adults Director & Strategist, (exempt), Reports to National Director of Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century (SBC21)

The National Network of Young Adults Director & Strategist will strengthen SBC21’s capacity to be a stronger liaison within Annual Conferences, the local Church, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The successful candidate will help to connect and build relationships needed for greater impact between young adults, local churches, annual conferences, board agencies; particularly Discipleship Ministries and GBHEM providing avenues for UMC resources, training, research, and networks designed for local Black churches and young adults standing in need of urgent help. This position will also provide leadership that will resource Pastors, Lay, Black congregations, faith communities and HBCU’s.

The successful candidate must demonstrate proficiency in planning, flexibility, organizing, leadership development, team building, decision making; motivational skills and administrative/organizational skills; experience working in a vital faith community, preferably of The United Methodist Church; knowledge of The United Methodist church structure and theology, and preferably members in The United Methodist Church; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and sensitively with culturally diverse groups and individuals; visionary, creative and critical thinking skills; knowledge about budgeting; excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to express faith/or personal commitment to growing in faith; personal passion for the needs of and issues related to the Black church; young adults; Efficient computer skills and knowledge of social media and digital communications skills.

Location: Work from Home Office “Anywhere” Position

Education / Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Master’s Degree Preferred) / Five years of experience working with young adult programs and leadership.
