Marketing Manager, Upper Room Books

Marketing Manager, Upper Room Books (exempt), Reports to Director, Marketing & Ministry Engagement – Location – Nashville, TN

The Marketing Manager, Upper Room Books plans, develops, and executes marketing campaigns that promote Upper Room Books, including the imprints: Fresh Air Books and Discipleship Resources. This team member will report to the director of marketing & ministry engagement and collaborate with staff, key audience groups, distributors, and vendors to ensure high quality book marketing of Upper Room Books.


The successful candidate must have working knowledge of project management methods; demonstrated knowledge of comprehensive marketing principles and strategy; demonstrated knowledge and experience in publishing; demonstrated quantitative analysis skills; knowledge of customer segment(s); knowledge of electronic media; strong interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with a diverse group of vendors; demonstrated written and oral communication skills; demonstrated cultural sensitivity; ability to use discretion, judgment and initiative; willingness to work with a team; preferred knowledge of the United Methodist Church; and demonstrated experience on personal computer and software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalency in marketing or related field and job experience in marketing and online communications / Seven - ten years related experience in marketing, book industry, and preferred experience in religious publishing. Experience writing creative catalog copy ads, book description, and sales presentations.
