Executive Director of Marketing and Innovation, The Upper Room, Reports to Publisher, Upper Room
The Executive Director of Marketing and Innovation oversees our marketing discipline, while working with marketing managers and their teams to create and execute strategic, highly innovative promotional plans across all Upper Room business units, and in strategic partnership with Discipleship Ministries Communications. The Executive Director will also be responsible for leading the creation and execution of marketing campaigns that grow The Upper Room’s communities of customers and donors and works to harmonize the various constituent voices of The Upper Room. The Executive Director serves as a productive and collaborative member of The Upper Room core leadership team.
The successful candidate must have knowledge of (or willingness to learn) Methodist/Wesleyan theology and polity, as well as Church leadership, networks, relationships and other United Methodist Agencies and protocols; in addition, other critical areas of knowledge are: Abrahamic theology, spiritual formation and discipleship, cultural diversity and contextualization which would be woven into the marketing platform’s all over strategies. Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performance teams; strong understanding of digital platforms and technology; demonstrated success in driving sales growth and creating new revenue streams, inclusive of traditional print publishing, but looking beyond to multi-platform content curation and distribution; Publishing experience a plus.
Education / Experience
Master’s Degree in Marketing or equivalent; Six to ten years of experience in digital strategy, content marketing, advertising/PR, cultural or arts marketing, or related fields.
