Remembering Coretta King

Recommended Tune: Ellacombe Cmd, Gesangbuch der Herzogl. Wirtembergischen Katholishcen Hofkapelle (1784); alt. (1868)
Alternate tune: Kingsfold

Dedicated to the memory of Coretta Scott King, April 27, 1927 ??January 30, 2006

Remembering Coretta King
our voices soar in song.
With faith in God she sought to right
our nation's hurtful wrong.
Committed to live Martin's dream,
enduring personal strife
she furthered work that civil rights
could gift each human life.

With quiet presence and strong will
she fought for justice, peace.
She shared her talent and her skill
and helped good will increase.
She persevered until she gained
an annual holiday
to honor Martin's legacy
to live the words we pray.

Remembering Coretta's zeal
to counter evil's power,
may we shun violence and hate,
bring buds of hope to flower.
Like her, let us now be the voice
to call humanity
to never rest till freedom's prize
becomes reality.
